Map reveals Britain’s CHEAPEST towns where you can snap up a house for just £112k – does your area make the list?

NEW data reveals Britain’s cheapest towns – with average house prices at just £112,000.

The Sun has created an interactive map based on figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Land Registry’s House Price Index.

The most affordable area is Burnley, Lancashire, which has an affordability ratio below four.

In those areas, salaries typically sit below £30,000 and homes cost just north of £110,000.

On average across England, the ratio is currently 8.6, as house prices soar.

While annual disposable income, not including taxes and benefits, is at £35,000, according to the ONS data.

The MailOnline carried out independent analysis examining the median annual pre-tax earnings for residents instead of disposable household income.

It took 2024 earnings from the ONS and compared them against statistics from the Land Registry for September, the latest data available.

That separate analysis found the affordability ratio across Britain is 9.3, while England is 9.7, Wales 7.3 and Scotland 6.2.

It found all the least affordable boroughs are in London.

In terms of the most affordable, Burnley (3.77) was followed by North Ayrshire (4.3), East Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, and Hyndburn (all 4.4).

All of the 10 most affordable local authorities in Britain are in Scotland and the North of England, the data showed.

On the flip side, homes in the least affordable borough cost up to 27 times the average salary.

The City of Westminster has as an affordability ratio of 21.13, with the average property price of £969,914, with an average annual salary of £45,910.
