'I'm a big AOC fan': James Comer has surprising take on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Rep. James Comer (R-KY) sounded happy to be rid of his Democratic nemesis, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), on the House Oversight Committee.
Raskin is seeking to become the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, which clears the way for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) or another candidate to replace him as the top Democrat on the oversight panel that Comer chairs.
"I'm a big AOC fan," Comer said, noticeably brightening when asked about her leadership bid. "Obviously, I don't agree with very much of her policy, but I think she's a good person, I think she's very well spoken. I did not have a good relationship with Jamie Raskin – I don't think that's any secret. I tell the press when they ask about the race for ranking member, the Democrats have nowhere to go but up after having Jamie Raskin for the last four years, so I think AOC would be great."

Comer praised other Democrats who've been mentioned as possible successors to Raskin, whose challenge to his friend, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), is part of a committee shakeup across the Democratic caucus.
"Gerry Connolly would be great," Comer said. "I know Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ro Khanna – they've all their names have been thrown in the hat, but I certainly look forward to working with the next ranking member, and if it's AOC, I think we'll have a good working relationship. We'll obviously have a lot of differences on policy, but I think she's a good, well-spoken person for the Democrats to serve in that position."
