You Will Never Guess Who Congratulated Bill Belichick On Joining UNC

New England Patriots legend Bill Belichick took the football world by storm this week as he was named the head football coach at North Carolina.

The seismic move to the college ranks by Belichick even caught the eye of a famous rapper.

Lil Wayne went to social media to not only praise Belichick, who held his introductory press conference at North Carolina on Thursday after agreeing to a five-year, $50 million deal, but also defended the 72-year-old from the criticism of taking a job with a mediocre college program.

“Man much respect 2da GOAT coach Bill Belichick!” Wayne posted on the X platform. “Not sure why they’re all hatin but I believe it to be envy and just a bunch of folks that don’t know how to simply say ‘congratulations’ or nada! A wise man once said ‘u can luv me or hate me, I swear it wont make me or break me.'”

The last line of Wayne’s post is from his song “Love Me or Hate Me.”

The five-time Grammy Award winner has a connection already to Belichick from his time with the New England Patriots. The 42-year-old rapper played at the Patriots Super Bowl party after they completed a historic comeback against the Atlanta Falcons. So, perhaps Belichick will bump some Weezy tunes in the Tar Heels locker room, even though they might not exactly help him relate to his much younger players.

North Carolina fans probably are just happy Wayne reached out with congratulations instead of Drake trying to cling to the program.

That’s a curse even Belichick might not be able to break.
