Senior dogs meet senior friends for holiday 'pawty' in NJ
UPPER FREEHOLD, N.J. (PIX11) - Dressed in their holiday best, some pups in New Jersey were excited like it was Christmas morning despite their age.
On Thursday, Gerry Nagelberg and her friends at Brandywine Living in Princeton came to Marty's Place Senior Dog Sanctuary, which serves as a home for senior dogs who have been turned in - many times due to their owner passing away or financial struggle.
"I guess the people who brought the dogs here, if they're still alive, they must be thrilled that their dogs have such a good home," said Nagelberg.
It's a time of year to give and receive love, something you don't have to be human to take part in. Just ask 10-year-old beagle Uno and 10-year-old lab mix Molly.
"It's really so joyful and it's really a mutual connection," said Doreen Jakubcak, executive director of Marty's Place. "For them to have an opportunity to engage again with a dog, it's really very heartwarming."
Marty's place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that allows dogs to live their best through their golden years. If you're interested in learning more or donating, click here.
