Witnesses react to north Lafayette drug bust

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Amya Davis and Jaylan Antoine happened upon a drug bust last night in north Lafayette as it unfolded. They said watching the event was a scary and unreal experience.

News 10 obtained video of the drug bust from Davis and Antoine. Davis said it felt like she was watching a movie, seeing everything unfold.

"There were about 10 to 15 cop cars already out there. And before we even went in, everyone was outside and started screaming, telling the people to get out the car, so we just stopped to see what was going on," Davis said.

The Lafayette Police Tactical Narcotics Team conducted a traffic stop Just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 3800 block of Moss Street. During the stop, four individuals were inside the vehicle. While three remained on the scene, one suspect ran off, police said.

Jaylan Antoine, Amya's boyfriend, said while it was scary to see, he is glad no one was injured.

"I wasn't expecting the passenger to sit up and get out of the car and just start running away from the car. I was just a little concerned because I didn't want whoever was in the car to reach for something, and then get killed, it would just be unnecessary," Antoine said.

The Lafayette Police Department said the following individuals were arrested:

  • Ariyon Deontae Keal, 19, of Lafayette
  • Darien Deon Mitchell, 27, New Iberia
  • Ashlee Miller Jr., 23, of New Iberia

One suspect is still on the run. The name of that suspect has not yet been released.

Lafayette police Sgt. Robin Green said Keal and Mitchell have warrants outside of Lafayette.
