Vinod Kambli reveals ‘Sachin Tendulkar has helped me’, wife ‘Andrea is taking…’ I WATCH video
Vinod Kambli reunited with his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar recently at a public event in Mumbai to pay tributes to their late coach Ramakant Achrekar. The reunion made all cricket fans emotional, specially looking at Kambli’s frail condition – since he was one of the most flamboyant cricketers of his generation.
There were suggestions that Tendulkar and other former cricketers should come forward and help Kambli in this condition. But Kambli made a big revelation on Thursday regarding Tendulkar.
Kambli revealed that his childhood friend Tendulkar came forward to help him financially during his surgeries following a heart attack back in 2013. “Sachin is my childhood friend, he helped me a lot. I underwent two operations in Lilavati (the hospital in Bandra), he helped me financially during the two surgeries in 2013,” Kambli said on the ‘Vickey Lalwani Show’ on YouTube recently.

Vinod Kambli has reunited with his wife Andrea Hewitt
Adding details about his health issues, Kambli said he is doing better now after being hospitalised at three different places about a month ago. He also revealed that his second wife and former model Andrea Hewitt helped him through his recovery a few months back.
Andrea had filed a case of domestic violence against Kambli in 2023, claiming that the former cricketer had attacked her with a cooking pan. It seems the couple have ended their differences since then.
“Urine was a problem, it was just flowing. I just collapsed and my son and daughter picked me up. I got admitted in three hospitals one month back.
“I am fine now. My wife Andrea takes good care of me. She took me to the hospital thrice. She told, ‘You have to come back fully fit’ and that is how I was back,” Kambli said.
Kambli also denied that his health problems were linked to alcohol addiction, adding, “No, no. I had stopped drinking and smoking six months ago. I was driving when I suddenly collapsed, and my wife Andrea rushed me to Lilavati Hospital. Who gets two heart attacks? She stood by me throughout.”
Former India captain Kapil Dev recently urged Kambli to address his health issues, saying he needs to make efforts to overcome the crisis.
“We should all try to support him. But more than us, he has to support himself. We can’t look after anybody if that person can’t look after himself,” Kapil had said earlier this week.
Kambli responded by saying that he’s ready to go back to rehab. “I am ready to go to rehab. As long as my family is with me, I am not scared of anything,” he said.
‘Ajay Jadeja has been a great support’
On his disparaging remarks about Tendulkar in 2009, Kambli said, “I was really frustrated back then, and it came out in the moment.”
The 52-year-old star also said that former teammate Ajay Jadeja has also been a ‘great support’ and had visited him in Mumbai. “Ajay Jadeja called me, he is my good friend. Jadeja visited me at my residence.”
