I was at my wits end with hair loss & bald patches – I tried all the medication but my 60p DIY oil was what worked

A WOMAN struggling with severe hair loss and bald patches has transformed her hair with a DIY oil that she now credits for her luscious brunette locks.

Moni Amezcua, who had been in and out of doctors’ and prescribed harsh medications that didn’t resolve her hair loss, decided to take matters into her own hands.

She created her own hair growth oil, a decision she says changed her life.

The beauty fan, known as ‘moni_amezcua’ on TikTok, has been documenting her hair growth journey on social media.

In one popular video, Moni shared before-and-after clips of her radiant brunette curls.

She captioned the post: “My DIY hair growth oil has truly changed my hair game. It’s more economical, and you know exactly what’s in it and when it was made. I highly recommend it.”

In the video, she said: “If losing hair was a sport I’d win a Gold medal.

“I was at my wits end with endless doctors appointments with no hope, and harsh medicines.

“I decided to take matters into my own hands.

“Did my research and put together my own DIY hair growth oil. I wanted to know exactly what was in the oil.

“Applied it twice a week as a deep oil treatment.

“Four months later, here we are. This has been the best decision I could have made. I have so much new hair growth and my hair is the healthiest ever.”

In another video later, Moni then revealed exactly what was in her DIY hair oil.

She revealed that it was fenugreek, rosemary and garlic gloves.

These can all bought separately from online stores including Amazon for around £1 a packet.

In another video, Moni explains: “What does fenugreek do that rosemary and cloves do not?

“So right off the bat, it’s not what they can do individually, but as a team.

“Rosemary is known to stimulate scalp circulation, prevent balding, promote shine, prevent dandruff, and slows graying of the hair.

“Fenugreek is rich in protein, iron, vitamins A, K, and C, folic acid, and calcium.

“It reduces shedding, treats scalp inflammation, slows graying of the hair, prevents hair loss, promotes softness and shine, and strengthens your hair.

“Cloves are antifungal and anti-inflammatory. They treat dandruff and promote healthy, thick hair.

“They have excellent healing properties that are said to heal the scalp while stimulating blood flow circulation and reducing hair fall.

“Studies have shown that when you combine these herbs, it can cause your hair to grow faster and stronger.

“Therefore, it is not what they can do individually, but what they can do as a trifecta.”

Hair Loss 101

HAIR pro Samantha Cusick has revealed everything you need to know about hair loss.

Why Does Hair Loss Happen?

Hair loss can be influenced by so many factors, from genetics and hormone changes to lifestyle choices.

Stress, diet, and even hair care habits can all impact hair strength.

It’s perfectly normal to lose some hair each day, but sometimes the body can shed more than usual, responding to things like hormonal shifts or even life stressors.

Why It Happens More This Time of Year

Have you ever noticed your hair seems to shed more in autumn? That’s seasonal shedding!

During summer, we hold onto extra hair to protect our scalp from the sun.

As the weather cools, it’s like our body recalibrates and lets go of those extra strands.

Dry, cooler air can also make hair more brittle, making it easier to lose a little extra volume during these months.

Hacks and Affordable Buys to Treat Hair loss

The great news? You don’t need to spend a fortune on pricey treatments to support your hair.

Try daily scalp massages—they’re so simple but really help boost blood flow to the follicles.

Castor oil is another fantastic, budget-friendly option that’s rich in nutrients to strengthen your strands.

Adding a bit more protein to your diet and a biotin supplement can also work wonders for overall hair health.

Products to Avoid

Steer clear of products with high levels of alcohol, sulphates, and parabens – they can be drying and damage hair over time.

Heat styling and chemical treatments can also cause breakage, so try to use them sparingly.

Instead, look for gentle, hydrating formulas to support your scalp and keep hair healthier through the seasons.
