Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games unveil Baseball5 illustrations

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games unveiled two Baseball5 illustrations, representing the WBSC urban sport. The two colourful images display a Baseball5 player, in classic and iconic movements of throwing and hitting a Baseball5 ball, over an African-themed green background.

The illustrations will be an integral part of the Games' communication on social media, featured across platforms. "Baseball5 is part of the sports program for Dakar 2026. Young athletes are ready to excel on the field. Good luck to all the players", the Dakar 2026 Olympics said on social media.

The publication of the images comes after the IOC confirmed the 25 sports on 3 December featuring in the competition programme of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, including Baseball5. These are athletics (track and field), aquatics (swimming), archery, badminton, baseball (Baseball5), basketball (3x3), boxing, breaking, cycling (road cycling), equestrian (jumping), fencing, football (futsal), gymnastics (artistic), handball (beach handball), judo, rowing (coastal rowing), rugby (rugby sevens), sailing, skateboarding (street), table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball (beach volleyball), wrestling (beach wrestling), and wushu.

It was also approved the athlete quotas for each event. The total athlete quota for the Games has been set at 2,700. Baseball5 will be one of seven mixed-gender events in Dakar 2026, which will achieve full gender equality for the first time in the history of the Summer YOG - not only in the overall athlete quota but also across every sport, discipline and event.

In addition, it was announced that Dakar 2026 will be the first to include the participation of a Youth Refugee Olympic Team. A Baseball5 Refugee Team is hoping to participate in the upcoming YOG.
