Man orders 4ft Santa but when it arrived it was bigger than his house
A man can no longer park on his driveway after a 4ft inflatable Santa he ordered ended up being bigger than his house.
Dave Goodings, a 30-year-old DJ, decided to put more effort into decorating his house for Christmas this year, but one mishap saw his decorations go from ‘zero to a hundred.’
Dave hoped a 4ft Santa would do the job, and so ordered one for £24.99, which he called a ‘bargain.’
When hispurchase arrived, however, it was a whopping 20ft tall – that’s bigger than his home!
The inflatable is, in fact, so big that the DJ and his partner can no longer park on their driveway.
Dave said: ‘We kept it quite low-key the first couple of years but this was the first year we decorated the outside.
‘We put icicles on the guttering and ordered the inflatable Santa online for £24.99.
‘It was supposed to be 4ft but it was way bigger than we ever thought it would be. We though the box was big, but we went with it.
‘Suddenly, we’ve gone from no decorations to this giant inflatable – zero to a hundred.’
The overly-big decoration has become the talk of the town, with locals passing by Dave’s home just to take a look.
The 30-year-old added: ‘It’s not that busy on our street, but within 10 minutes of inflating it people were walking by and taking photos.
‘One person said they could see it from the bottom of their road. It has almost become a mini tourist attraction.
‘We even joked we might be stealing customers from Chessington World of Adventures! Everyone wants to see the giant Santa.’
Dave was forced to take the Santa down last weekend though, for fear of it blowing away as Storm Darragh approached the UK.
He and his partner are now unsure whether to keep the huge decoration or sell it, after Dave’s TikTok post of the inflatable gained more than 50,000 views.
He’s even had people message him with offers for the decoration.
He told Lancashire Live: ‘It has been quite a ride since I got it, to say the least. People are saying we have to keep it and I’ve also had offers to buy it.
‘One guy from Ireland said he’d buy it if we could send it there. Other people are saying we should get an inflatable snowman to go with the Santa.
‘I want to keep it, it’s an opportunity too good to miss. Buy my missus is more realistic.’
