Man tries to escape police Santa Claus style by hiding in chimney
A fugitive managed to get stuck in a chimney while trying to evade police in a Santa Clause-themed escape.
Robert Langlais, 33, fled with another suspect using the rooftop as officers were searching his home in Fall River, Massachusetts.
The other suspect leapt onto a parked car, successfully escaping, but Langlais decided to hide in the chimney.
Video footage has revealed the moment a dog walker told a police officer he heard someone screaming, before shimmying down a chimney of a home nearby.
Members of the Detectives of the Community Action & Suppression Team (CAST) in the area were alerted of the oddly festive criminal escape.
They were heard asking, ‘How did he do that?’
An officer replied, ‘I don’t know.’
The team went to investigate and shined their torches down the chimney, where the top of Langlais’ head was seen.
Officers were unable to free him, so they called the fire department. It took several men to free Langlais.
Surprisingly, the suspect was left uninjured – but was later arrested and taken into custody.
He was found to have Class A drugs, Class B drugs and a slew of charges from outstanding warrants.
A third suspect, Tanisha Ibay, was arrested on charges of possession of Class A and possession of Class B drugs.
