28-year-old accused of embezzling over $27K from Harrah youth basketball program

HARRAH, Okla. (KFOR) — A 28-year-old from Mustang was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly embezzling over $27,000 from a youth basketball program in Harrah.

Harrah Police say the investigation began on Monday, December 9, when the Harrah Little League Basketball Association president reported missing funds from the association's business account.

According to police, records and bank statements provided to detectives showed various unauthorized charges that included transactions for groceries, home cleaning services, a college transcript purchase and a tattoo parlor expense.

Police also say there were multiple Cash App withdrawals for large amounts sent to an account under the name Kaylynn Taber, ATM withdrawals and receipts of large cash withdrawals also made payable to Kaylynn Taber.

The total amount of misused funds reportedly reached over $27,000, leaving only a few dollars in the association's account.

The league president told police that these funds are used to cover the league's operating costs, and leftover funds have historically been used to give out two $1,000 scholarships to a Harrah High School male and female senior.

Since the account has been wiped out, the league is now unsure if they can give out the scholarships this year and support the community's Little League basketball in the future.

The league president says that vendors have already started calling about returned checks, resulting in addition bank fees incurred by the league.
