My office got escorted out of our Christmas party over my embarrassing drunken antics – I thought I’d have to quit

IT’S pretty easy to go over the top at the work Christmas party but there are always reminders of why we shouldn’t.

And one young woman from the UK has shared exactly why you shouldn’t get too drunk, or risk losing your job.

Brooke took to social media to tell others her story about her last Christmas party for work – where her drunken antics got them kicked out of a restaurant.

She said: “I’ve not lived it down.

“They still talk about it to this day.

“Luckily, I work with people who are fun and find me funny, because if I didn’t, I probably wouldn’t have had a job.”

She and her coworkers had been out for most of the day, starting with lunch where they all decided to have a little booze to celebrate.

But one thing led to another and they ended up bar-hopping around London all day.

Eventually, when dinner time rolled around they decided to head to a noodle bar when something shiny caught Brooke’s coworker’s eye.

The restaurant had lots of gold Budha statues around and her friend said she wanted done.

Being drunk, Brooke decided she would get it for her by sneakily placing one by the front door to take at the end of the meal.

“I put it next to the door, and then we all went and sat down,” she recalls.

“Anyways, we’re sitting there for ages, no one’s come over. Then my boss is like, excuse me, we want to order.

“The ladies are like you all need to leave.

“I’m like why? Why do we need to leave?

“Cause you’ve tried to steal a Buddha.”

Do show up on time – a 10-minute grace period is allowed, but anything longer without letting the host know, is just plain rude.

Don’t show up empty handed – unless you’re popping round for a quick coffee, you should always show up with a small token of your appreciation for the host and their efforts. Flowers, a bottle of wine, candle, or contribute to the dinner by making dessert.

Don’t start eating until everyone is seated – what might be an obvious rule, it’s one many forget. Cooking a meal for a group of people takes a lot of effort, so wait for the host to park themselves, thank them, and await instruction.

Don’t do the dishes, do clear the table – everyone has their way of cleaning and tidying up. If you swan into the kitchen and start scrubbing, it could be seen as an insult. So help clear the table, and ask if there’s anything else you can do – perhaps top up everyone’s glass?

Get off your phone – few things can make a person feel less seen or important than coming second to a mobile. Leave it in your pocket, and check anything urgent during toilet breaks.

They were then escorted out of the building, but before that, Brooke went to use the bathroom.

She saw there were more of the gold statues and found a tall man to grab it from the shelf for her.

Brooke made her way out of the restaurant with her Budha and gave it to her coworker who was left in hysterics by her antics, Brooke however, was not.

“It was highly embarrassing, I was mortified. When I woke up the next day, sober, I honestly thought, I’m not coming back,” she said

“I’m not. I’m not returning to that job. I’m done.”

The clip was posted to her TikTok account @brookestok and people were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section and many were left in hysterics by Brooke’s story.

One person wrote: “Love the fact you still got away with one.”

Another commented: “Fair play, this is something I would do!”

“One company I worked for went to a huge party with other companies. Service was rubbish food was pants. I stole a pair of lovely blue wine glasses for compensation,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “OMG that’s so funny!”

“Hilarious,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Oh Brooke I think it’s an east Londoner thing… I’m always on the rob when I’m p**sed.”
