How much Tottenham are set to earn from non-football events per year
Tottenham Hotspur are set to get a huge windfall following a decision by the Haringey Council.
Moving to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been extremely lucrative
The move from White Hart Lane to the new stadium was in the works for a long time, with the proposals first being put forward more than a decade and a half ago.
Daniel Levy finally managed to deliver the stadium in 2019, and it has been an absolute game-changer for the club’s finances.
According to TBR Football, thanks to the move to the 62,850-capacity venue, Spurs now have the second-highest matchday income in the Premier League after Manchester United, with the club raking in £118m every year.
Spurs to receive huge financial windfall
It is not just football matches that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosts, with the venue also used for other sporting events and concerts every year.
Until recently, the number of non-football events Spurs have been permitted to host has been capped at 16 by the Haringey Council, but the club have now received a license to host 30 events per year at the venue.
According to an analysis conducted by Goldman Sachs, 16 non-football events were worth £55m to the club in the last financial year, but with the number of events now doubling, Spurs could now be set to rake in £110m per year from non-footballing events.
Daniel Levy deserves credit for what he has delivered
The stadium was Levy‘s brainchild as he was always clear about delivering a multi-use venue, and he was the one who orchestrated the collaboration with the NFL.
This stadium will be a huge money spinner for the club for a good part of the next half a century, no matter who the owners are.
While Levy has deservedly come in for criticism for some of his footballing decisions, he deserves credit for transforming Tottenham into one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe and ensuring that the club will dine at the top table for many decades to come.
