Battle of the Bridges: Portland State University vs University of Portland women's basketball

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- It's the Battle of the Bridges in Portland Friday night as Portland State University women's basketball takes a quick trip to the University of Portland's campus to face the undefeated Pilots.

University of Portland's women's basketball team is one of four teams in the country right now that are 10-0. The only team with a better record? LSU, which is at 11-0.

A key to UP's success this year is that all 11 players who were eligible to return did so this offseason. In fact, two of the team's leading scorers, Maisie Burnham and Emme Shearer, came to head coach Mike Meek early last season to say they would be staying with the program this year.

Meek said it speaks to how well the team gets along in his program and how everyone wants to do well for one another.

Tip off is at 6 p.m. on Portland's CW on Friday, Dec. 13.
