What are the new billboards that have been posted around Topeka?
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A local group with a big goal in mind is looking to catch the attention of Topekans this December by posting several billboards across the city.
27 News caught up with the group 'Kaylee's Dad is Mad' on Thursday, Dec. 12 as it held a candlelight vigil near Southwest 21st Street and Southwest Gage Boulevard. The group's members seek to draw awareness to deadly fentanyl overdoses in the community.
Amber Saale-Burger, who has lost several family members to the drug, spoke to a 27 News reporter about preventing others from falling victim to fentanyl by posting these new billboards around the city. A total of four anti-fentanyl billboards have been placed.
"It gives us hope," Saale-Burger said. "All of these parents have suffered great losses. Not only the parents... siblings, you know, their friends have suffered great loss and they're using their love one's voice as their face as a way to bring awareness to this drug and hopefully to save someone else's life."
