SMPD: Woman dead after accidental shooting at gas station

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The San Marcos Police Department is investigating an accidental shooting that left one woman dead on Friday, the agency said on social media.

Around 4 p.m., SMPD said it was actively investigating the shooting that happened at a gas station near Redwood Road and Highway 123.

A spokesperson for the department told KXAN the woman was with her toddler at the time the shooting happened. Police said there was no threat to the public.

The shooting remained under investigation Friday by police.
