Residents in Nangarhar Report Iranian Military Forces Preventing Transfer of Executed Individual’s Body to Afghanistan

According to reports on Friday, December 13, the individual was executed in Iran 13 days ago.

The person was a resident of the Achin district in Nangarhar, and was executed in Iran on charges of drug trafficking.

Reports indicate that the body of the executed individual was transported to the Islam Qala border, but Iranian border guards have demanded payment for transferring the body to Afghanistan.

It is worth noting that Iran has consistently executed Afghan nationals, and in the latest instance, two young Afghan men from Farah province were executed in Iran on charges of drug trafficking.

The situation further complicates the already strained relationship between the Taliban government in Afghanistan and neighboring countries. The failure of the Taliban to mediate in such cases raises concerns about their ability to protect the rights and interests of Afghan citizens abroad.
