Chilly start to weekend, rainy and milder Sunday

Central Ohio Weather and Radar

High clouds increased, with a light east wind, on the western edge of high pressure, allowing readings to bounce back into the mid-40s after a couple of subfreezing days and frigid wind chills.

A steady rain arrives after midnight, as a low-pressure system tracks from the southern Plains across the Midwest to the Great Lakes on Sunday. The rain will taper to showers Sunday afternoon, but linger through the evening, with totals of .50 to .75 inch.

There will be a brief lull in the damp pattern Monday morning, but another system will approach from the west, bringing a soaking rain (up to 1 inch), along with breezy, milder conditions.

Dry weather will return Tuesday and part of Wednesday, as high pressure builds in from the west, with a slight cool-down to the 40s, and chilly mornings near freezing. A cold front will bring a chance for showers later on Wednesday, followed by seasonably cold weather Thursday and Friday.
