King tides flood part of Cutler City

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A part of Cutler City flooded due to King tides, the Lincoln City Police Department posted on their Facebook page.

The King tides flooded the area of SW Jetty Avenue and SW 63rd, officials said. There is no broken water main, and a similar high tide level is expected on Sunday.

The combination of soaking rains and the return of King tides will increase the flooding threat along the coast. Tidal heights could near almost 11 feet this weekend during high tide. Low-lying areas, bay locations, and coastal rivers were at the greatest risk for flooding mid-day Saturday.

This is part of the active weekend weather that brought the threat of coastal flooding, tricky mountain travel, and soggy valley conditions back to the Pacific Northwest.

December is known for being wet in Portland and Saturday is no exception. Scattered rain showers will remain through the afternoon hours as highs warm into the upper 40s and low 50s. Some rain showers could be heavy at times with a few dry moments expected.

That wet weather trend is expected to last through Saturday night before slightly drier conditions return Sunday mid-day. Another powerful front will increase in the rain potential Sunday evening and night as rain takes Portland into the new week.

Heavy mountain snow with some minor icing is possible over the weekend. Slick roads and dangerous mountain travel is likely through the weekend. Accumulative snow could near a foot in some higher elevations by the start of next week.

Slightly drier and sunnier skies are expected after the wet weekend and start of next week. Despite the soggy conditions, temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 40s and low 50s through the end of next week.
