Nicola Coughlan Says a Loved One Was 'So Mad' About Her Intimate 'Bridgerton' Scenes

Nicola Coughlan took center stage in the most recent season of Bridgerton, and doing so required her to film some steamy love scenes. It turns out that someone close to her was not necessarily a fan of those romantic moments.

While on The Graham Norton Show, the 37-year-old actress opened up about the role, which she described as her first time playing an actual adult.

“It was weird having to then play the romantic lead,” she said, adding that “it’s a sexy show.” Nicola continued, saying, “A lot of sexy things happen in it, and then I realized I was going to have to do the sexy things.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she explained how someone close to her responded.

Nicola said that her mom did not love the steamier scenes from the season of Bridgerton.

“My mother was so mad at me about those scenes — as if they were my fault, so I didn’t go to the screening with her,” she recalled, via the London Evening Standard.

Earlier this year, Nicola revealed that she personally requested to film one specific “very naked” scene as a response to body shaming that she’s experienced online. She also revealed one stipulation about sex scenes that was in her contract.
