A WOMAN in an age gap relationship revealed the family drama it has caused.
From apprehensive family members to an angry ex-wife, the couple have faced their fair share of complications.
In her viral video, TikTok user Brooke (@brookemcnelis) shared an insight into her relationship.
“Date a man with a 22-year age gap, you won’t have to lift a finger,” she advised her audience.
Brooke, now 33, met Pat, now 55, when she was still in university six years ago.
In fact, it was through Brooke’s uni flat mate that the two first connected.
She revealed that her “best friend at the time” was the step-niece of Pat.
Brooke, who is now engaged to Pat, refers to him lovingly as her “step-poppa.”
And while the couple has been together for years, they still face backlash from certain family members.
The TikToker admitted that her family were “a little hesitant” at first but soon warmed up to the relationship.
She said her mum had always envisioned her with somebody older while her twin sister and Pat “love each other now.”
Brooke added that her step-dad “absolutely loves” her partner.
However, Pat’s own family were less supportive of the age gap relationship.
His now 18-year-old daughter as slowly been warming up to Brooke since first meeting her at the age of 12.
“She obviously reacted the way any teenager would,” the TikToker explained.
And while she has been understanding of Pat’s daughter’s reaction, Brooke said she couldn’t comprehend his ex-wife’s anger towards her.
She pointed out that the older woman has been in a relationship since before she came on the scene.
