People realise they’ve been storing earrings wrong – never lose one again with a 10p trick that could save you hundreds
LOSING an earring is a small annoyance in life that many of us fall victim to at some point.
You can either keep hold of the one lonely remaining earring (and try to work it into some kind of mix and match situation), or admit defeat and throw it away.
But if you’ve spent a lot of money on good quality jewellery, it can be especially frustrating.
Luckily, one TikTok user has revealed a nifty trick for keeping your earring pairs matched after their friend clued them in to the hack.
And viewers online have been blown away by the simple yet effective organisation method.
TikTokker @.abigail.co posted a video, captioned, ‘My friend told me she uses buttons to keep her earrings together and I immediately got to work.’
In the clip, Abigail’s earrings are neatly matched in her jewellery stand.
Each pair is cleverly held together by a button.
The earring backs have been threaded through the button holes and secured on the other side, locking them in place next to each other.
In the video description, Abigail joked: “Me leaving the hangout early to go match my earrings.”
Users in the comments were gobsmacked by the friend’s simple yet effective trick.
One wrote: “Get her a Nobel Prize stat.”
While another agreed: “Some people are just so clever.”
Another person commented: “Fantastic. Now I can expand both collections of earrings and buttons and one will justify the other.”
And one user highlighted how this trick will come in handy when travelling: “Been doing this for years. It makes the world of a difference when you travel and have multiple sets of earrings in a bag.”
If you don’t have buttons laying around the house, you can pick them up for as little as 10p.
If you wear hoop earrings, you can ditch the buttons altogether!
You can simply link one earring hoop through the other to make sure they stay safely secured.
And if you’re taking bracelets and necklaces with you on holiday, you can use a drinking straw to prevent them from tangling in your case.
Simply thread the item of jewellery through the straw and fasten it on the other side.
This will prevent your jewellery from becoming damaged, tangled or lost in your case.
