Ryan Garcia suffers wrist injury, postponing Dec. 30 exhibition with Rukiya Anpo
Ryan Garcia’s exhibition with Rukiya Anpo will be pushed into 2025 after Garcia sustains wrist injury.
Ryan Garcia’s supposed Dec. 30 exhibition fight with Rukiya Anpo won’t be going ahead as scheduled, but not necessarily because of any promotional dispute but because Garcia is said to have sustained an injury to his wrist which will force the fight to get pushed back into early 2025, as reported by ESPN.
“I’ve been eagerly preparing for my upcoming exhibition fight in Japan, training hard in Dallas over the past several weeks,” Garcia said. “Unfortunately, I sustained a hand injury during training and returned to Los Angeles to be seen by the doctor.”
Garcia was diagnosed with an aggravated bilateral wrist pain and advised to stop his sparring and push back the exhibition so he can heal.
The California fighter remains suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission for testing positive for a banned substance heading into his marquee win over Devin Haney — a result that has since been overturned — but has been looking to keep busy outside of the country until he can make his official return.
