Sky TV customers receive brand new button to make skipping ads faster than ever – how to find it
SKY is rolling out a brand new button that solves a long-running frustration with ads.
Customers who pay for ad-skipping normally have to fast forward through them manually.
New feature comes to Sky Glass and Sky Stream[/caption] Feature works for on demand content on Sky[/caption]On Sky Glass and Sky Stream, it costs an extra £5 per month for the ability to ad skip and it works with cloud recordings, as well as on demand content and through some apps like ITVX and Channel 4.
But a new button eases the minor nuisance of needing to fast forward through the ads.
This new button will automatically jump past them so you no longer have to go through any effort and get straight to the show content you want to watch.
Skip Ads will pop up in the bottom right corner at the start of an ad break.
However, the button won’t appear for all content.
Sky says it’s only available for its video on-demand shows and movies.
So the feature won’t work for anything you’ve added as a cloud recording or programmes from within apps.
For these, you’ll have to continue fast forwarding through manually.
But fear not, as there is a hidden trick to make things a little faster that’s been around for ages.
And it’s all thanks to the voice-powered remote control features.
When you’ve selected a show to watch, just summon the voice controls and say “skip two minutes”.
You can say other minute lengths too, such as one or five, but two seems to work quite well.
It won’t necessarily take you right to the action of what you’re watching but beats the manual fast forward function.
