‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 trailer sends Walton Goggins and Parker Posey to Thailand for pain and pleasure
Khob khun krab! On Monday, HBO released the trailer for “The White Lotus” Season 3, its Emmy-winning anthology dramedy.
The highly anticipated third season is set at a White Lotus luxury resort in Thailand, and features a star-studded cast that includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, Aimee Lou Wood, and Natasha Rothwell returning as Season 1 character Belinda Lindsey. Additional cast include Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Christian Friedel, Scott Glenn, Dom Hetrakul, Julian Kostov, Charlotte Le Bon, Morgana O’Reilly, and Shalini Peiris. The trailer features looks at many of them and showcases some very fun work from Goggins in sleazy prick mode, Monaghan in unhinged sexpot mode, Coon in judgemental busybody mode, and Posey in high-strung, Southern-accented alcoholic mode.
The trailer also introduces elements of the mystery — a jewelry store robbery, a body bag, and somebody stole Posey’s lorazepam — and the season’s theme, as a Buddhist monk says “Everyone runs from pain towards pleasure, but they get there only to find more pain.” That’s “The White Lotus” in a nutshell.
Creator Mike White writes and directs all eight episodes of Season 3.
“The White Lotus” is one of HBO’s defining shows of the 2020s so far. It has won 15 Emmys, including Outstanding Limited Series in Season 1 and two supporting actress wins for Jennifer Coolidge, from 43 nominations.
“The White Lotus” Season 3 premieres Sunday, Feb. 16 on HBO and Max.
