More than half of young Europeans report feeling lonely

A significant number of young adults across the European Union experience loneliness, according to a new study by the Bertelsmann Stiftung. The report, Loneliness of Young People Compared across Europe in 2024, reveals that 57% of Europeans aged 18 to 35 feel moderately or strongly lonely. The findings are based on data collected through the EU-wide survey tool, eupinions.

While loneliness among young people has been a growing concern since the COVID-19 pandemic, the study highlights notable variations among EU member states.
