Mass grave containing 100,000 bodies discovered in Syria

Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government and years of bloody conflict in Syria, a mass grave containing 100,000 bodies has been discovered in Syria.

International media have reported the discovery of a mass grave with 100,000 bodies in Damascus, the capital of Syria.

Reuters news agency, citing the head of a Syrian advocacy organization based in the United States, has reported on the discovery of this mass grave.

According to Maaz Mustafa, the head of this organization, the mass grave, located 40 kilometers north of Damascus, is one of five mass graves he has identified over the years.

Bashar al-Assad, the President of Syria, fled to Russia after opposition forces approached the city of Damascus. Russia later confirmed that Bashar al-Assad and his family had entered Russia.

This comes at a time when the fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria not only marked the end of his 24-year presidency but also the end of over 50 years of Assad family rule in Syria.

Before Bashar assumed power in 2000, his father, Hafez al-Assad, had served as President of Syria for three decades until his death.

The discovery of the mass grave highlights the tragic human toll of the Syrian conflict, marking a grim milestone in the country’s history. It also serves as a reminder of the long-lasting impacts of authoritarian regimes and civil war.
