Amanda Staveley teases investment announcement amid Tottenham rumours

Newcastle’s former co-owner Amanda Staveley has made a big revelation about potential investment into another club as rumours continue to circulate about her talks with Tottenham’s Daniel Levy.

Over recent months, we have heard a lot of reports regarding the talks between Staveley and Daniel Levy regarding a minority takeover of Tottenham.

The former Newcastle co-owner, through her investment vehicle PCP Capital Partners, is thought to have raised around £500m so far, in an effort to buy a 25 per cent stake in the North London club.

There has not been any indication over recent weeks that the parties are close to an agreement, but Staveley has now sent a major hint that they might be.

Staveley hints at an imminent announcement

Staveley has now confirmed that her consortium is studying options for new investment opportunities at the moment. She further whetted the appetite of Spurs fans by suggesting that an announcement might be forthcoming in the near future.

Staveley said (via BBC Sport): “First of all, I think all we can do is thank the amazing Newcastle community and the founders for all the support that we had and continue to get.

“It’s so hard to move on from a club that’s amazing. We could never move on from Newcastle and we never will. But yes, we’re looking at a number of investment operations.

“We can’t say too much at the moment because of you know, rules around it. But we will be able to talk about it, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.”

This might not have anything to do with Spurs talks

Staveley and her consortium would likely be looking at all the potential investment opportunities in European football, not just Tottenham.

Spurs fans should thus not get excited just yet as there is little concrete evidence to suggest that investment from PCP Capital Partners is imminent.

Having said that, given the strength of Tottenham’s balance sheet, the Lilywhites are undoubtedly one of the most lucrative options available at the moment for any potential investors.
