Pat Green to headline concert ahead of Texas Longhorns playoff game

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas country music legend Pat Green will take the stage for a Longhorn City Limits concert ahead of Texas football's College Football Playoff showdown against No. 16 Clemson this weekend.

University of Texas Athletics announced the San Antonio native will headline Saturday's show on the LBJ Lawn around 1 p.m. as part of pregame festivities for Texas Longhorns football.

Austin-based Sour Bridges will take the stage at 11:30 a.m. The Longhorns are set to square off against Clemson around 3 p.m. Saturday.

With hit songs like "Wave on Wave," "Carry On" and "Texas On My Mind," Green has been a fixture in Texas country music for over three decades.

Green's sold over two million albums and has over 200 million career streams, according to the release.

“We are so excited to welcome Pat Green back to the LBJ Lawn and can’t wait to have Longhorn Nation celebrate this first-ever on-campus playoff game with us with a spectacular lineup and experience at LCL," UT Athletics Director Chris Del Conte said in the release.

Green will be making a return appearance to the LCL stage. Other notable artists who have performed at LCL this year include Spoon, Tanya Tucker, Rick Springfield and Josh Abbott Band.
