WATCH: Akash Deep SMASHES Pat Cummins for huge six, Indian dugout goes into mayhem

India pacers Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah massively helped the side in avoiding the follow-on during the fourth day of the Brisbane Test. The Men in Blue lost Ravindra Jadeja for 77 which left them reeling on 213/9.

It looked as if India would definitely be given a follow-on by the Australians, however a brilliant 39-run partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep for the final wicket, saw the Men in Blue survive.

Both the tail-enders played gutsy knocks and Akash Deep in particular proved to be quite impressive with the bat. The final player in India’s batting first hit a boundary to help India get over the line and avoid follow-on.

Then, he went on to hit a magnificent six to Australia skipper Pat Cummins which was celebrated like anything in the Indian dugout. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma looked impressed at the shot that Akash Deep played and the maximum was also welcomed with a massive roar from Indian fans present in the stadium.

Following the maximum however, the umpires intervened and brought out the light meter to check the fading light, and soon the conditions were deemed unfit to play.

Stumps were called for the fourth day as the final session of the day was in progress and there was no guarantee if the conditions would have gotten better after some time.

India finished the fourth day on 252/9 with Bumrah batting on 10 and Akash Deep batting on 27. The Men in Blue still trail by a massive 193-run margin heading into the final day of the Brisbane Test.
