However, traveling to hill stations has become a nightmare for travelers due to icy roads, endangering their lives. A video has gone viral on the internet showing an SUV losing control on a snow-covered road near the Atal Tunnel in Manali. The driver can be seen leaping out of the moving car to avoid a crash. The video, showing the driver landing just inches from the car’s front wheel, has gone viral on social media platforms like wildfire.

The video was shared on Instagram by travel vlogger Hamza Murtaza last week. The clip shows an SUV skidding near Solang Valley in Manali. Other vehicles can be seen stuck on the snow-covered roads, with tourists trying to prevent them from slipping further. In the next moment, the driver of the SUV jumps out to save his life as the vehicle continues to slip dangerously and eventually crashes into a rock.

The video has accumulated over 24 million views on Instagram, featuring the treacherous roads of Manali.

On the 9th of December, Himachal Pradesh, including Manali, was painted white with a generous sprinkle of snowfall. This dramatic weather transformed the area into a rippling winter postcard. Yet, it wasn’t all beauty and charm. The heavy snowfall brought with it complications, with vehicles getting trapped in various locations. Indeed, if you skim through social media, you’ll find several clips of cars skidding across icy lanes, a stark reminder of the difficulties that come with navigating in such harsh climates.

A tragic mishap earlier this month sadly highlighted the dangers posed by icy roads. A holidaymaker from New Delhi, named Bhishan Garg, 49, tragically lost his life in the Lahaul-Spiti district when his vehicle skidded on the frosty surface. According to law enforcement, the car was manoeuvring around other traffic-jammed vehicles when it tragically slid out of control, crashing into a parked tipper truck. This unfortunate accident led to the loss of Garg’s life while also leaving three other co-passengers injured.
