Sugar mills pay Rs 8,126 cr to farmers in first 70 days of 2024-25 season

Indian sugar mills have disbursed ₹8,126 crore to sugarcane farmers within the first 70 days of the 2024-25 sugar season. Total dues amounted to ₹11,141 crore as of December 13, leaving ₹3,015 crore outstanding. Karnataka holds the highest arrears. Last season's dues were nearly cleared, with only ₹1,275 crore pending.
