Tottenham vs Manchester United in the Carabao Cup

Postecoglou was back in front of the media at Hotspur Way on Wednesday ahead of the fixture with both sides coming into the cup tie with a win under their belt.

Spurs are looking to book their place in the semi-final of the cup competition when they host United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and go one step closer to ending their long wait for a competitive trophy.

Destiny Udogie was forced off before the half-hour mark in Tottenham’s 5-0 win against Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday which sparked concerns that the Italian could be set to join the club’s ever-growing injury list.

Atfer the match, Postecoglou revealed Udogie was suffering with a quad issue but did play down the severity of it.

Yves Bissouma is once again available after serving a one-match ban after picking up five bookings, while fellow midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is set to miss his sixth domestic match in a row as a result of his seven-match ban over his comments on Heung-min Son.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero both remain sidelined following the fresh injuries they sustained against Chelsea, while Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison and Guglielmo Vicario are not due to return until 2025.

The Spurs boss recently revealed that Ben Davies could return before the New Year after his hamstring injury was not as bad as first feared.

Postecoglou told Football London: “From the other night, Destiny no injury but he is still sore from the game. Not ruling him out but will see how he is with the turnaround.

“I think both [Romero and Van de Ven] will be in the new year. Not as significant an injury as last time with Micky but obviously having a setback the medical team is going to make sure he is right to go.

“Mikey is back in training. The next cabs off the rank are Mikey and Ben Davies potentially next week and Richarlison potentially first week of the new year.”

Tottenham vs Manchester United takes place on Thursday 19th December 2024, with kick-off scheduled for 8 pm BST, the match will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event with live radio commentary taking place on BBC Radio 5 Live.
