Fire in Schenectady leaves heavy damage in home
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A fire on Genesee Street in Schenectady left the home with heavy fire, smoke, and water damage on Tuesday. Schenectady Fire Chief Donald Mareno said the fire happened around 10:30 p.m. and when crews arrived there was a heavy fire on the first floor.
No one was found inside the home when crews entered, but they found out that a family of four and some cats lived there. Chief Mareno said the fire was under control in 50 minutes and completely out in an hour and 20 minutes. There was also heavy smoke and water damage to the basement and a car suffered some fire damage.
No one was injured in this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
