On Monday afternoon, RRPD said officers conducted a traffic stop near the 600 block of McNeil Road. During the stop, officers found Smith allegedly had several catalytic converters, narcotics and tools used to steal catalytic converters.
Catalytic converters are used in vehicles to convert pollutants like carbon monoxide into less harmful substances like nitrogen and water vapor, according to Triple-A.
Smith was booked into the Williamson County Jail. He is currently charged with possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a catalytic converter, and unlawful use of a criminal instrument.
