WTC 2023-25 Points Table: India’s percentage suffers Massive blow after Gabba Test

Rain was the deciding factor the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane, as the match ended in a draw. Australia saw a collapse in their batting lineup on Day 5, and had lost seven wickets for 89 runs before declaring the innings. The target was set on 275 for India with more than 50 overs left. However, rain interrupted in the third over of India’s chase and the match ended in a draw.

Both India and Australia have four points after Gabba Test. Australia and India are at second and third place respectively in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings. however, the win percentage has dropped for the teams.

India will now need to win the remaining two Test matches to ensure that they reach the WTC final without the help of any other teams. In case they lose one of the Test, they will need a favour from Sri Lanka. If Pakistan also beats South Africa in both the Tests, India will qualify.

On the other hand, Australia will need to win the remainder of the two Tests of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Even if they lose cleansweep by Sri Lanka next year, they will go through to the finals.

However, South Africa needs only one single Test match to qualify for the maiden WTC Final. The team has not lost a single Test till now because of the leadership of Temba Bavuma.
