Pressure continues to mount on Daniel Levy at Tottenham

The anti-Levy sentiment that has been pervasive on social media for several years now finally seems to have seeped through to the match-going fans.

During Tottenham’s 5-0 win at St Mary’s on Sunday, the travelling Spurs fans made their feelings towards the club’s chairman clear, with chants of ‘Levy out’ reportedly ringing throughout the game as well as after the final whistle.

One would hope that the outrage from the supporters will push Levy and the Spurs hierarchy to act and loosen their purse strings in January.

Stan Collymore lends his voice to ‘Levy out’ movement

Over the past few weeks, we have finally started seeing influential voices from the media question Levy’s role and suggest that he needs to step aside.

Jamie Carragher did that a little over a week ago, and he has now been joined by Stan Collymore, who insisted that Tottenham’s mentality will only change if the 62-year-old departs the club.

Collymore wrote in his column for CaughtOffside: “The other question is whether this is a club that is it fit for purpose to win trophies? The answer is no, and that’s down to Daniel Levy. I think, until he goes, there won’t be a change of mentality.”

Levy is not going to step aside at Tottenham

If Tottenham fans think that chanting is going to force Levy to leave his role, they are living in dreamland. The Spurs chairman will only leave if there is a full takeover of the club, which is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

However, there is no doubt that the supporters are right to keep up the pressure on Levy. He should know that his decisions are under increasing scrutiny and that he cannot get away with failing to back another manager.
