Remove 20 per cent export duty on onions: Ajit Pawar to Centre

Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, has written to the Union Commerce Minister. Pawar seeks removal of the 20% export duty on onions. Nashik onion farmers face distress due to low prices. The current rate is around Rs 2,400 per quintal. Unseasonal rains and climate change have impacted earnings. The export duty makes Maharashtra onions less competitive globally.
