St. John’s wing Brady Dunlap to miss 4-6 weeks with hand injury
St. John’s sophomore swingman Brady Dunlap will miss 4-6 weeks due to an injury to his left hand and will undergo surgery on Thursday, the school announced. Dunlap suffered a tear to his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), as announced by Red Storm Head Coach Rick Pitino.
“Brady has been playing hurt since our game with Kansas State on December 7,” said Pitino. “It has been bothering his shooting and it’s time to surgically repair this so he can get back in time for February.”
Dunlap has appeared in all 10 games this season, including two starts, and has averaged 5.7 points per game. A native of Newhall, Calif., Dunlap is tied for second on the team with 12 3-pointers and has shot 37.5 percent from distance. Dunlap scored a career-high 20 points and sank five 3-pointers in the Red Storm’s victory over Quinnipiac on Nov. 9.
St. John’s (9-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) returns to action on Friday in a primetime matchup at Providence (7-5, 1-0 BIG EAST). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. FOX will carry the national broadcast.
