Praiano Bookcase

Praiano Bookcase is a minimal bookshelf created by Italy-based designer Sauro Melchiorri for STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN. During Miami Art Week, STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN presents AMALFI, MIAMI, a solo exhibition by Italian artist Sauro Melchiorri. The show debuts two new collections, PRAIANO and POSITANO, both exclusive to the gallery and inspired by the Amalfi Coast’s striking landscapes. Each piece is hand-sculpted in Italy, reflecting Melchiorri’s commitment to craftsmanship and material exploration. Melchiorri, who works between London and Milan, engages in every phase of his creations.

His approach blends a deep respect for natural materials with a hands-on process that emphasizes collaboration with master artisans. This dedication results in sculptural works that balance form, material, and technique. The PRAIANO collection comprises four pieces crafted from sandblasted verde cipollino marble. The bases, reminiscent of Praiano’s jagged cliffs, contrast with the smooth, monolithic surfaces above. The distinctive green marble, with its wave-like veining, evokes the weathered textures of ancient Greco-Roman stonework. The sandblasted finish accentuates the marble’s tactile quality, mirroring the rugged, time-worn cliffs of the region.
