Poughkeepsie man charged with selling fentanyl

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) reported that an arrest has been made following a drug sale investigation. Bernard Diggs, of Poughkeepsie, is facing felony charges.

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force conducted an investigation into drug sales on South Cherry Street in Poughkeepsie, during which Diggs was identified as a suspect. Task Force agents were able to covertly buy narcotics from Diggs multiple times during the operation.

On December 17, law enforcement allegedly found Diggs selling drugs to a woman on Cherry Street. Agents took him into custody at the scene, where he was reportedly found with pre-packaged fentanyl. He now faces the following charges:

  • Third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance - intent to sell

The DCSO stated that additional charges against Diggs are pending. He was arraigned at the City of Poughkeepsie Court before being remanded to Dutchess County Jail on a $50,000 cash bail, $150,000 partially secured bond, or $300,000 secured bond.
