Video: Pigeon takes flight inside subway train headed to Manhattan

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Straphangers were in for a ride on Wednesday when a pigeon took flight inside a Manhattan-bound subway train.

The bird got into a No. 5 train at Freeman Street in the Bronx around 4:20 p.m.

The seemingly-stressed pigeon was caught on camera flying back and forth in the train car. Some passengers appeared to cower toward the walls of the subway, while others nonchalantly stared at their cellphones.

"I've never in my life," the video's caption read.

A man held up his hands in an attempt to catch the pigeon. He managed to grab it and can be heard in the video saying, "What are you doing?" to the animal.

The man then released the bird at the Simpson Street subway station, according to Victoria Flora, who recorded the video.
