Rui Hachimura’s Exclusive Air Jordan 1s Are Finally Being Released
Los Angeles Lakers star Rui Hachimura’s cache of personalized Air Jordans is expanding soon with the launch of a new Air Jordan 1 Low with a familiar pattern.
Previewed in official Nike product images is the Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Oatmeal.” Hachimura’s Air Jordan 1 Low OG features a floral pattern combining cherry blossoms with cranes.
The design covers a creamy oatmeal-colored base which features a metallic gold-bordered Swoosh logo in black suede, a matching suede heel tab and a gum rubber outsole. The suede material is also used in oatmeal on the tongue and toe box, giving this Air Jordan 1 Low an especially premium feel. Inside, Hachimura’s logo is printed on the insoles of both the left and right shoes.
If Hachimura’s Air Jordan 1 Low looks familiar, it may be because a similar black-based player edition (PE) pair was created exclusively for the star in 2022. That black Air Jordan 1 Low was never released, but a matching Air Jordan 36 did hit stores in September ’22. Former Jordan Brand PE designer Kelsey Amy, who was responsible for Hachimura’s designs as well as numerous other exclusives, elaborated on the process on X.
“Context, this was the original cranes PE (black version) made for Rui Hachimura, it had a matching AJ 36,” Amy wrote. “I made the oatmeal version a year later and it never saw the streets. So I’m happy to see it finally coming out.”
According to Amy, Hachimura’s black-based cranes design was so popular at Nike headquarters that it necessitated the creation of a secondary colorway. “Literally the only reason the oatmeal exists is [because] everyone would walk by in the halls and pick up the black pair,” she wrote on X.
The arrival of Nike e-commerce images is a sign that the release of the Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Oatmeal” isn’t too far off. The pair, which has a SKU of HV8293-100, is expected to retail for $160. It will likely be made available from Nike’s SNKRS app and select Jordan Brand retailers.
