Bills Make Me Wanna Give: Greg Rousseau creates foundation to further community efforts
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Bills defensive end Greg Rousseau recently started his own foundation. This week was its first major event, a shopping trip for some local single moms.
“I feel like this time of year, everybody needs some extra love sometimes,” said Rousseau. “To be blessed with the resources to facilitate that, I mean, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.”
It’s a common theme among Bills players during the holiday season.
“Our team’s just a group full of really good guys who just kind of show love and help the community and just give back,” said Rousseau. “I feel like when you’re in the position that we’re all in as NFL players, and you have the resources to do it, it’s important to give back when you can. I mean, you’re only in the league for so long, so why not take advantage of it?”
Rousseau is in his fourth NFL season and decided to take that concept to the next level with the creation of The Rousseau Family Foundation.
“It just took a lot of paperwork and a lot of small details,” said Rousseau. “Opening an account, getting a bank account, getting certified by the state, and all that stuff. It took a while but I’m glad we got it now.”
One thing Rousseau will continue to focus on his healthcare, given his personal connection to the field.
“I visit Kaleida Health a lot, like very month and introduce myself to the patients and the staff just because, you know, my mom being a nurse, me knowing how important healthcare and the medical system is to just everyday life for everybody,” said Rousseau. “It’s special to me.”
