Paddy Power nine-darter rules: How much does crowd member win?
PADDY POWER has introduced an exciting promotion for the PDC World Darts Championship 2025 that could see lucky fans win big.
Centring around the rare and thrilling nine-dart finish, the Irish bookmaker is offering substantial rewards for players, the Ally Pally crowd and charity.
The prize will be split between the player who makes the nine-darter, a lucky fan in attendance and Prostate Cancer UK[/caption]Paddy Power’s nine-darter bonus
For every nine-dart finish achieved during the PDC World Darts Championship 2025, Paddy Power will pay out a massive £180,000 bonus. This bonus is split three ways:
- £60,000 to the player who throws the perfect leg
- £60,000 to a lucky fan in the Alexandra Palace crowd
- £60,000 to Prostate Cancer UK, the official charity partner of the tournament
How fans can win
To be eligible for the £60,000 prize, fans must be present in the Ally Pally crowd when a nine-darter is thrown.
The lucky winner will be randomly selected from the audience, adding an extra layer of excitement for spectators at the event.
Additional charitable contributions
Besides the nine-darter bonus, Paddy Power has pledged to donate £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for every 180 (maximum score) hit during the tournament.
This initiative, known as The BIGGER 180, aims to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and support.
Paddy Power said: “We’re buzzing to bring The BIGGER 180 to this year’s Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
“Last year’s campaign was an absolute triumph, raising over £1million and proving just how powerful darts can be in making a difference.
“This time, we’re stepping it up with a £180,000 bonus for every nine-darter – split between Prostate Cancer UK, the players, and the fans who make Ally Pally magic.
“It’s darts, it’s drama, and it’s saving lives — what more could you ask for?”
Significance of the nine-darter
A nine-dart finish is the perfect leg in darts, where a player checks out from 501 points using the minimum possible number of darts — nine.
It’s a rare and highly celebrated achievement in professional darts, making Paddy Power’s promotion particularly exciting for fans and players alike.
Historical context
The frequency of nine-darters has increased in recent years, reflecting the improving standard of play in professional darts.
In the 2014 season, there were only 20 nine-dart finishes recorded, compared to 55 in 2024 so far.
However, the odds of an average tour player throwing a nine-darter remain quite low, estimated at around 5,000/1 per attempt.

Bigger picture
This promotion is part of a larger campaign by Paddy Power and the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) to support Prostate Cancer UK.
The charitable aspect of the promotion aims to fund TRANSFORM, described as the most ambitious prostate cancer screening trial ever.
This trial seeks to find the best way to diagnose the disease early, potentially paving the way for a national screening program.
THE BIG 180
Paddy Power’s The BIG 180 is an initiative where Prostate Cancer UK receives £1,00 f0r every 180 scored by each of the 96 World Championship entrants.
Last year’s edition was hugely successful, raising £1million for Prostate Cancer UK.
With 914 maximums hit during the 2024 World Darts Championship, Paddy Power rounded up the final donation to reach the seven-figure sum.
Paddy Power and Prostate Cancer UK aim to inspire at least 180,000 men to complete the charity’s lifesaving risk checker this year. Early action saves lives — don’t wait. Take 30 seconds to check your risk today via prostatecanceruk.org/darts-risk.
