Heung-min Son’s numbers make for unbelievable reading

Son is now into his tenth season at Tottenham and the numbers he has accumulated during that spell not only puts him among the best players in the club’s history but also among some of the best in the world during that period.

The South Korean matched Darren Anderton’s tally of 67 assists to become the player with the joint-most assists in Spurs history after setting up two goals against Southampton.

The 32-year-old also found the back of the net in that game, taking his total tally of goals to 168 for the club across all competitions. That became 169 against Man United on Thursday, scoring from a corner, no less!

Heung-min Son makes claim about trophy pursuit

The Tottenham captain admitted that he is proud to clinch the record, but he confessed that he would give up all of his goals and assists to lift a piece of silverware at N17.

When asked about the milestone, the forward told Spurs Play: “I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved for this club but I’m still hungry, I still want to always improve. If I could change one thing for a trophy it would definitely be this. I think everybody deserves this, the club deserve it, the fans deserve it, so we are working on it.

“Let’s be together at the moment, it’s not important to talk about individual stuff, I’m very proud of course think everybody has to work towards one aim.”

No one deserves a trophy more than Son

The kind of loyalty Son has shown to Spurs is very rare in modern football, with the forward genuinely loving the club as much as the supporters do.

No player in world football deserves to lift a trophy as much as the 32-year-old does. It will be an incredibly special moment to watch him proudly hoist a piece of silverware as captain, and Tottenham fans will be desperately hoping that this is the season that happens.
