Snow falls in NY, NJ before temps expected to plummet

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Snow has started to fall in New York and New Jersey on Friday.

A special weather statement was issued for parts of New York, including the Bronx, Queens, Westchester County, Nassau County and Suffolk County. In addition to snow, some rain is in the forecast, which could lead to slick roadways and travel headaches during the evening commute.

Snow will continue to fall in the tri-state area through Saturday morning. A coating to an inch of snow accumulation is expected.

After the snow, temperatures are expected to plummet to the 20s and 30s. They'll continue falling throughout the day.

Even colder temperatures arrive in the region on Sunday, with wind chills between the teens to sub-zero at times.
