Visiting Costco’s food court after pushing a heavy cart around for what feels like miles is a must. The little burst of energy and serotonin we get from an affordable little snack at the Costco food court helps take away the sting of accidentally spending way more money than we intended when we walked in (something that’s bound to happen when we see these Costco cult favorites in stock). But the constant swirling of Costco food court rumors we see on social media always have us wondering what we’ll suddenly find the next time we head the store. From removing combo pizza to swapping churros for chocolate chip cookies, a lot of the changes we’ve seen have been preceded by plenty of online Costco food court rumors, and this time, there’s a big one floating around: it’s being alleged that in 2025, Costco’s food court will be swapping out Pepsi for Coca-Cola products.
Long time Costco shoppers may remember that back in the day, the food court did feature Coca-Cola products. Then, they made the switch to Pepsi, and the Costco food court rumors (at least on Reddit) allege that Coca-Cola wouldn’t budge on their pricing, so Costco switched to Pepsi to save money. Who knows if that’s true, but the new Costco food court rumor is that Coca-Cola is coming back.
We’ve seen posts on Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit about the Costco food court rumor that Coca-Cola will replace Pepsi in the new year. One Reddit post, which received 506 comments, claims “Good news for my fellow Costco-going [diet] coke enjoyers. My well-placed source said ‘early 2025’.” On Instagram, commenters seemed jazzed at the prospect of the swap. “Coke is better than Pepsi!” exclaimed Costco.love, while commenter archiesfables said “Best change! I usually tell them no drink cup since I don’t like any of the Pepsi options.”
But over on Reddit, commenters seemed more interested in getting a different drink into the food court: Dr Pepper. The most up-voted comment came from coolnamealreadytaken, who said “Just add Dr. Pepper as a choice!” Unfortunately, Dr Pepper isn’t owned by Coca-Cola. It’s made by Keurig Dr Pepper, which also owns Canada Dry, A&W, and Snapple, so if the swap rumor is true, shoppers still probably won’t see Dr Pepper at Costco.
But before any of these Costco food court rumors come to pass, many commenters seemed to agree that they need to work on a current issue: the functionality of the soda dispensers. “I could deal with it if they were kept calibrated. Every time I go it’s too syrupy or light to the point it tastes like water,” complained one user. Commenter Remote-Stretch8346 chimed in: “Hope this means they get new fountain dispenser. Ever since they switch to Pepsi. 2 out of three of the dispenser shoots out 50% syrup 50% flat non carbonated water.”
The latest Costco food court rumor is already generating debate and discussion, but overall, it sounds like a lot of people would be excited to see their favorite store switch to Coca-Cola products in the new year. Only time will tell if this rumor is based on truth, but in the meantime, Pepsi lovers who shop at Costco might be feeling pretty nervous right about now.
