Forgotten MAFS star lands new career as an ‘ugly model’ a year after brutal break-up
A groom from last year’s MAFS UK has turned his fortunes around after failing to find ‘The One’ on the hit TV show.
Mark Kiley was devasted after giving up his job as a customer service manager in a bid to find true love.
But even though things initially took a turn for the worse following his time on the show, Mark recently revealed his excitement after finding love for a new career as an ‘ugly model’ instead.
Taking to his Instagram earlier this week he said: “Ending the year on a high! With signing to @uglymodels I am beyond excited. I mean look at these pics!!! Jheeez!!”
Followers were quick to wish him congratulations on his new role, with one saying: “Looking gorgeous” and another commenting: “Beautiful face.”
Ugly Models is an agency claims to have a ‘unique outlook on modelling’ using the philosophy that: “beauty can be airbrushed but we want our models to have true character.
“We are UGLY. We are the leaders in character modelling and celebrate diversity in all its glory.”
Each of the 1,000 models on the agency’s book have been hand picked and range from 18-100 years old, in ‘all shapes and sizes,’ with auditions held every 18 months for new talent to be signed.
The notably niche market has been a hit with Vogue and Gucci in the past, offering brands portfolios on “the most individual, wacky and unique looks in the industry.”
Mark’s new career is sure to be a huge boost for the rejected realty TV star.
His time on the show came to an early end when his partner Sean revealed he no longer wanted to take part in the experiment.
It followed him having doubts about the romance and the couple being told in a letter they seemed more like friends than husbands, during one of the show’s dinner parties.
Mark has since said he believes his husband “wasn’t ready” for such a serious relationship, revealing they have “not stayed in touch” and he has since “unfollowed him” on social media.
He says: “It was really disheartening. It feels like I was cheated, it wasn’t great.”
The bold social experiment sees singletons, matched by experts, marry total strangers, who they meet for the very first time on their wedding day.
Following his stint on the show, however, the 36-year-old was left single, unemployed and unimpressed.
He previously told The Sun: “I thought I’d be living the high life, going to events, doing lots of Instagram stuff and that life would be better after being on the show. It feels like I was mis-sold a dream.”
He had applied to MAFs after being single for 10 years, saying he had a “really bad dating life” before the show, even appearing on First Dates back in 2017.
Mark recalls “bursting into tears” when he received a call from MAFS producers to say they had found him a match and believed he would finally get his “happy ending”.
Since then Mark claims to have been misled about the opportunities that could arise after leaving the show. “I know it was my choice but it felt like I was mis-sold this dream that it would work and I would say goodbye to my normal life.”
“Before I thought ‘This is great, I could have a husband and a better career’ but it was all just talk and I was promised a lot more than I was actually given.”
