Kylie Kelce Is America’s Next Top Podcaster
Another massively successful podcast from the Kelce family? It’s more likely than you might think. Kylie Kelce’s podcast, Not Gonna Lie, debuted two weeks ago and is already a huge hit. In its first week, it unseated The Joe Rogan Experience as No. 1 on both the Apple and Spotify podcast charts, and the two shows have been alternating in the top two spots ever since. For context, Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, is currently No. 46 on the Apple chart and No. 83 on Spotify’s.
Not that Kylie cares about that. In an interview with the New York Times, the field hockey coach said she “couldn’t care less about the charts.” She’s also uninterested in playing into a feud created by the kinds of people who listen to Joe Rogan.
“I’m focused on putting out content that people like to consume,” she told the Times. “If that puts us there for a week, cool. If it puts us there for longer than that, cool. But I also don’t need to feed any conflict that’s created by it.”
So how did she do it? Well, if you listen (or watch) an episode of Not Gonna Lie, you can see how Kylie would have a broad appeal. Despite the fact that she married into a very charismatic football family and her de facto sister-in-law is the most famous person in the world, Kylie seems almost impressively normal. She’s funny without hamming it up, she’s relatable in a way that wasn’t manufactured by a PR team, and she talks about motherhood with a frankness that people find refreshing. Plus, the episodes are only 45 minutes long. (She told the Times she was “prioritizing the timeline of busy women.”)
Whether or not Kylie can keep her numbers as strong as Rogan’s remains to be seen, but it’s definitely a promising start. At this rate, the next presidential election will be in her hands.
